Habitat for Humanity of Greater Volusia County, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit, ecumenical Christian
housing organization which has served the area since 1986. Habitat for Humanity works to build or
restore homes for affordable homeownership in partnership with people who present need, ability to pay,
and willingness to partner with the Habitat affiliate. Through the support of our partners and engagement
of our Homeowner Candidates, we have served 190 families to date who now own a safe, quality-built
home of their own.
Homeowner Candidates (future Homeowners) contribute hundreds of “sweat equity” hours and purchase
their home at no profit to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Volusia County (HFH of GVC) who then
provides a zero-interest mortgage. All mortgage payments build equity for the Homeowner and Habitat for
Humanity uses the cash flow to build more homes. Habitat’s unique program provides Homeowner
Candidates the opportunity to learn new skills and knowledge for successful homeownership.
Homeowner Candidates are fully engaged in the solution to their housing needs.
HFH of GVC is able to accomplish our mission through the generosity of others. We work in partnership
with corporations, the faith community, civic and community organizations, schools and universities, and
caring individuals. Volunteer labor is a foundation of our mission and volunteers work alongside
Homeowner Candidates and construction staff to build and renovate homes.
Habitat for Humanity builds strength, stability, self-reliance, and shelter. We appreciate the long-time
support of our key partners: Fifth Third Bank, TopBuild, and the GE Volunteers.
