About Us
Advocates for Special People, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that supports parents and families with adult children who have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
History
We began in May, 1997 as a small group of concerned parents who wanted our children to continue to be challenged mentally and physically, to develop their daily living, socialization and academic skills, and to be productive citizens in their communities. To that end, we work to create and support existing programs in which our intellectually disabled adult children can participate.
Special Connexions
A Special Connexion was established in the fall of 2003 to provide educationally and physically challenging activities for those we serve. We have added three more Connexions over the years with each connexion serving about 25 campers.
