Every August, Special Olympics Illinois hosts the Chicago Ducky Derby, dropping a truck full of rubber ducks into the Chicago River to raise critical funds needed to support Special Olympics Illinois statewide programming. By race day, the goal is to have more than 75,000 rubber ducks adopted and ready to splash down from the Columbus Drive Bridge to race down the Chicago River. Each duck entry supports an inclusive community of more than 60,000 traditional athletes, Young Athletes, Unified partners, coaches, volunteers, and more.
