Our Story:
On September 20th, 2023, my husband and I lost our beautiful daughter, Matilda. She was born on September 18th, 2023 at 25 weeks and fought so hard to stay here with us. We have struggled immensely since her birth and death to come to terms with this shocking, life altering event that no one prepares you for. Kindermourn has been such a safe haven for us to go and receive support and build a community with parents who have experienced what we have gone through. Without Kindermourn, I don't think we would be where we are now in our grieving journey. We will never move on and forget our daughter, but we are moving forward one day at a time and learning how to navigate this new reality with our amazing support systems.
This year we will be attending the duck race with the newest member of our family and Matilda's little sister - Wilder Ivy. She came into our lives this January and has brought us so much joy and healing. However, we want people to continue to remember and honor the very real life of our first child, Matilda. Wilder's presence does not replace or hinder our memories of Matilda. They are both equally our daughters and equally important to us.
KinderMourn is a non-profit organization that is made possible through donations. We would love the opportunity to be a part of helping this resource continue to be available for those who experience the loss of a child at any point in their life. Please help us to keep Matilda's memory alive and honor her by purchasing ducks to support the wonderful Kindermourn community that means so much to us. Our goal this year as of now is 300 ducks, but we will change this goal if we meet it before the race being held on May, 4th! Thank you so much.
Love,
Peter, Paisley, & Matilda Mae & Wilder Ivy
