HELP US FLOAT HOPE!

On January 21, 2024, we checked into the hospital for our scheduled induction of our daughter, Lila Grace. I was 39.5 weeks pregnant. We had an ultrasound two days before and everything was perfect. I felt her moving earlier in the day. After getting settled into the room, the sweet nurse told us she had to strap me up to a heart monitor where they would listen to the heartbeat for 30 minutes before they could start the induction drugs. She put it on me and all I heard was silence. I knew immediately something was wrong, but had to wait another 15 minutes or so while she continued to try and find what I knew she never would. She eventually called in another nurse and they strapped on a second strap, and again couldn’t hear anything. Finally, after the longest and most agonizing 30 minutes, a doctor came in with an ultrasound machine and after just a minute or so said the words that forever shattered our lives.

“I’m sorry, there’s no heartbeat.”

In the days to come, even before we delivered her and after, we kept hearing from everyone the word KinderMourn. I ignorantly and I suppose blissfully was unaware of this organization. How innocent and naive we were. I quickly researched it and even though I didn’t want to leave the house, 7 weeks later we attended our first group therapy session. This weekly session helped us feel not alone and gave us purpose, at least for those 8 weeks. We will forever be grateful to KinderMourn and will continue to support them and their mission for the rest of our lives.
