2024 Update: Kinsley's little sister, Madilyn, is here and we are over the moon. We would DO ANYTHING to see Kinsley and Madilyn play together. We are very excited to introduce Madilyn to the Duck Race, what it stands for, and start the tradition of attending the Duck Race as a family. Thank you all for supporting Kindermourn and we hope to see you all there again!!

2023 Update: We had a blast last year celebrating Kinsley's life and her first birthday all at this event. We appreciate everyone who donated as Kindermourn was a huge part of our life after Kinsley and continues to be a huge part of our life. They do so much for so many families in the area during the hardest times of their lives. We can not wait to celebrate Kinsley again this year and hope everyone can join us again.

Original 2022 Post: Tuesday, May 25th, while enjoying our family vacation in the Outer Banks, Kinsley decided she did not want to wait until September to make her appearance. After getting mom and Kinsley stabilized at the OBX hospital, mom and baby were transported via ambulance to Norfolk Virginia where, despite best efforts to have Kinsley stay put, Kinsley Catherine Akins joined our family on Friday May 28th, 2021 at 8:20PM weighing in at 1lb 5oz and 11.5 inches. She spent the rest of her time with us fighting for her life in the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughter. We spent day and night with her in the NICU and had high hopes of being able to bring her home back to Huntersville. God had other plans and she went to Heaven on July 26th, 2021. Upon returning home, we were told about Kindermourn and joined their Empty Arms support group which was a blessing.

Kindermourn provides parents and siblings support through the most unspeakable days and weeks. Even though I hate being a part of the Kindermourn family, I am so grateful their services exist. Now is our time to support them so they can continue to support families who have been through the unimaginable.
